Nine Inch Nails with Marilyn Manson at Patriot Center, Fairfax, VA, USA

Review:

By this time Eric and I had purchase Woodstock ’94 tickets, but we already had Nine Inch Nails tickets so saw 2 shows in a row by them. According to the NIN Wiki, this was the live debut of “Burn”. This is the only time I saw Marilyn Manson and wasn’t a big fan.

Green Day, L7, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars, Beastie Boys & The Smashing Pumpkins at Charles Town Race Track, WV for Lollapalooza

Review:

My first (and so far only) Lollapalooza experience. Green Day was just getting big so they were fun, and Beastie Boys and The Smashing Pumpkins definitely earned their headliner status.

Phil Lewis with Sexface at Nick’s Nightclub, Alexandria, VA, USA

Review:

Phil Lewis is the lead singer of L.A. Guns, who was touring solo. Eric is a huge fan, so we went. Our favorite song of his is “Never Enough”, and he didn’t do it, so we were screaming it towards the end of his set, and became one of our longest running in jokes.

The Rolling Stones with Counting Crows at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, Washington, DC, USA

Review:

It was around this time of the year after I was working in the record store that I made myself a goal of seeing 100 different artists in concert in 1994. The Rolling Stones seemed like a must see (would have never thought they’d still be going strong 30 years later), and it was a good show, with Counting Crows a very nice opener as I’d fully digested their album by that time.
