Counting Crows were at the height of their fame, and WHFS commemorated the occasion by broadcasting the show live. Too bad they didn’t broadcast The Wallflowers as well, because Adam Duritz sat in on “6th Avenue Heartache”.

The second time I saw Rush on the Test for Echo tour, so the second time seeing them do 2112 all the way through. Interesting that this venue would end up being the place I’d see them the most.
Second show in a row where Béla Fleck opened for Dave Matthews Band. Listening to the recordings, the show from December had a lot more Béla, and more Béla equals better. Still a great show, though.

Another HFStival and another crazy lineup. Seeing Echo & the Bunnymen and especially Blondie was great, but I liked all the bands we saw. I believe Heather wanted to leave early, as I was hoping to see Jamiroquai or Beck.

We’d really enjoyed watching Riverdance, so when it turned out one of the stars had a new Celtic dance extravaganza, we wanted to check it out. It was an amazing spectacle and we really enjoyed it. The DVD that came out later was a great recording of it.

My dad and I had gone to Bill Clinton’s first inaugration (and George W. Bush’s before that). The day was bitterly cold, so no one wanted to stand outside, but Heather and I decided to brave it to see Better Than Ezra. It was in a big tent on the mall, and the main thing I remember is my fingers were so cold that clutching a hot chocolate still wasn’t warming them up. I don’t think we stayed for the whole set.

I won’t hide my love for DMB, but since I’ve been to so many shows, I don’t always listen to the shows I’ve been to. This one I keep coming back to. For most of the second half of the show, Béla Fleck joins them for some truly inspired versions. I was not surprised he showed up as a guest on their next album.

My 3rd HFSMas Nutcracker, and one of my favorite as emmet swimming opened. It was the 1st of only two times so far that producer Don Dixon played with them (also January 2004 when his band opened for them).
