Review:
We’d seen Sting the previous year at Constitution Hall, and thought we’d see him again. Silly us, it was the same setlist minus “My One And Only Love”. At least he brought Cheb Mami with him to duet on “Desert Rose”.

Jimmy Buffett at Nissan Pavilion, Bristow, VA, USA
Review:
The show was ok. But it will forever be in my mind about how awful parking at Nissan Pavilion can be, as they let anyone in to tailgate and ran out of places to park. So whren we tried to leave early, we discovered Melanie’s Jeep was blocked in by other cars. We tried to move the fence we were against with no luck, and had to wait long after the encore to get out. I never stay through the encore there anymore. This was also the first streamed show I went to – it was at Radio Margaritaville in Real Audio.

Review:
The Excentrics finally made it to Herndon. I had picked up a bigger battery for my video camera so recording their whole show wasn’t an issue.

My first opportunity to see a member of Monty Python, and so hilarious. Very disappointing to find out a recording exists and is not available for sale.

A local country singer I wasn’t familiar with, but she made some good covers choices.

Kelly Thibodeaux and Etoufee, Great Big Sea & Cravin’ Dogs at Herndon Festival 2000
Review:
It should not be a surprise that I enjoyed Great Big Sea. I definitely made a note to see them next time they came through town. I have no idea why I didn’t record them with the video camera.

Moxy Früvous at Herndon Festival 2000
Review:
The band would break up after this tour, so I’m glad I saw them when I did. It was something in common with future friends at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. It’s too bad about what Jian did. After enjoying the previous year and noticing the town was broadcasting live on their cable channel, I bought a new JVC GR-D70U MiniDV (16 bit) video camera. It was the best quality consumer recording type at the time, so I could get a video recording and stereo audio at the same time. Unfortunately for this show, this was my first night with the new camera, and the battery it came with was much too small, so I stopped in the middle to make sure to get the finale.

Vertical Horizon, Bloodhound Gang, Mary Prankster, SR-71, Deftones, Filter, Nine Days, Godsmack, Eve 6, Third Eye Blind & Stone Temple Pilots at FedExField, Landover, MD, USA for HFStival
Review:
The HFStival moved to FedEx Field for my first concert there as well. It’s not a bad place for a football game, but it’s not a good place for a concert. Fine line up, though.

Nine Inch Nails with A Perfect Circle at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, MD, USA
Review:
Melanie was a big fan of Nine Inch Nails, and I was happy to see them again. They played all the songs we wanted.
