Review:
You might think on our third Dave Matthews Band show of the year it might be getting old, but as always the setlist would change night to night and we enjoyed ourselves. I always love it when the audience sings the chorus of “#36” during “Everyday” and convinces the band to segue into it. They finished up with an 18 minute “Two Step”.

Review:
Jill was an automatic yes for the “Bad Boys from Boston”. The most unusual thing about the show was that Mia Tyler was there, and the band sang “Happy Birthday” to her (the bootleg sayd it’s Liv Tyler, but you can make out the “Mia”).

Review:
Eric wanted to go and Jill didn’t, so I headed downtown to wait for him. And wait. And wait some more. He never answered his phone, so eventually I went in, in time to catch several acts. I’ve been a Billy Corgan fan for a long time, and this is the one time his group Zwan came near us on a tour, so even their short set was thrilling. The real one time only event came next, as the legendary James Brown was backed by DC’s own Pietasters for an even shorter set of just two songs. I was bummed to miss Queens of the Stone Age, and didn’t stay for Coldplay.

Peter Gabriel with Hukwe Zawose and Charles Zawose & The Blind Boys of Alabama at MCI Center, Washington, DC, USA
Review:
We had upper deck seating, but I guess the show didn’t sell that well, as it was closed off and we were given seats just off the floor. No complaints from us, as it was an amazing show, got all the hits we were hoping for.

Paul McCartney at MCI Center, Washington, DC, USA
Review:
I started going to shows in earnest in 1994, and Paul McCartney had last toured in 1993, so I was beyond eager for my first show with a Beatle. And while he certainly played tracks from his then new album, the bulk of the show was Beatles and Wings hits, and no one there was unhappy about that, especially Jill and I.

Dave Matthews Band with Yerbabuena at MCI Center, Washington, DC, USA
Review:
Jill was already a fan of the Dave Matthews Band, so I got her floor seats (courtesy of the Warehouse fan club). With the songs from The Lillywhite Sessions finally coming out on Busted Stuff, we got a bunch of them, plus Butch Taylor on keys.

Creed weren’t my favorite, but my friend John (aka Rusty) wanted to come up from Richmond and see them with me. So I did. Still not my favorite.

I had met Jill during the last week of December, our official first date was New Year’s Eve. I had planned on going down to MCI Center and buying a ticket from the scalpers. Her friend Joanna was in town and they elected not to go. Too bad, as I got a nice seat and it was a great show, got all the hits plus some nice duets.

I’d seen Neil Young, but not the rest, and I knew how rare it was for them to tour together. It was great, long show, full of not only CSNY songs, but also CSN and solo ones.
