Review:
Ozzy was great, but I have kicked myself for managing to go to the only tour after Zakk Wylde became his guitarist that Zakk didn’t go on (we got Joe Holmes, and I tell you the crowd was saying “who?” too).

WHFS has having such a big year, they tried to start a fall festival. Unfortunately, this was the only one. The show was a big bummer for me because Matthew Sweet opened, and we got to the show as he was playing his lost song. Eric had agreed to drive but was running incredibly late, even for him.
Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ was great as usual, but for the longest time, I would put Moonpools & Caterpillars as my least favorite opening band ever.

Second time seeing Dave Matthews Band and Dionne Farris on their summer tour, but this time just me and Heather. I really liked Dionne Farris, and her then guitarist David Ryan Harris guested with Dave Matthews Band on a stunning 18 minute “Jimi Thing”, covering “Third Stone From The Sun” during it.

1995 was a good year for jam bands, and the H.O.R.D.E. fest was just perfect on a summer afternoon. My first time seeing Wilco, but I really liked them (I will admit to liking Son Volt more at first). A big highlight was The Black Crowes covering Little Feat’s “Willin'” with John Popper & Wilco.
The Hatters were a countryesque jam band. I liked them fine – I liked the free tickets from their label even better.

I was a serious Van Halen of both eras, but 5150 was an essential soundtrack of my college years. This show was a great mix of the four albums with Sammy, plus some classic cuts. Nissan Pavilion was brand new and this was my first show there.

I liked the other Fairfax based bands like Triggerfish, but I didn’t try to see them anywhere near as much as emmet swimming.

My friend John was now living in Richmond, and he was into Dave Matthews Band as well, so we went down and went to the show with him and his wife. He was surprised they didn’t play “What Would You Say”, their big radio hit.

Why did we go to Fairfax to see them? Can’t remember.
