Slash’s Snakepit at Hammerjacks, Baltimore, MD, USA

Review:

The opportunity to see Slash in a club was irrestible (he’d soon leave Guns N’ Roses). Surprisingly no GN’R songs, but Gilby Clarke was in the band and sang his songs “Cure Me… Or Kill Me…” and “Tijuana Jail” – appropriate because Slash played on those songs on his album.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with The Jayhawks & Pete Droge at Patriot Center, Fairfax, VA, USA

Review:

Tom was touring off Wildflowers (one of my favorite albums of his) and put on a great show, I really like Pete Droge and enjoyed seeing him again, but none of that was my highlight. I knew I liked The Jayhawks, but this show made me love them. The tight harmonies, and the songs (especially “Blue”) just hit me in the gut.

Jimmy Page & Robert Plant with Rusted Root at USAir Arena, Landover, MD, USA

Review:

After seeing two nights of Pink Floyd, I had no trouble signing up for two nights for the voice and guitar of Led Zeppelin. After their successful MTV reunion, they took it on the road, and it was everything a Led Zep fan like me wanted. Extra bonus for including a Coverdale\Page song and a solo Plant song.
