Second show in a row where Béla Fleck opened for Dave Matthews Band. Listening to the recordings, the show from December had a lot more Béla, and more Béla equals better. Still a great show, though.

Another HFStival and another crazy lineup. Seeing Echo & the Bunnymen and especially Blondie was great, but I liked all the bands we saw. I believe Heather wanted to leave early, as I was hoping to see Jamiroquai or Beck.

We’d really enjoyed watching Riverdance, so when it turned out one of the stars had a new Celtic dance extravaganza, we wanted to check it out. It was an amazing spectacle and we really enjoyed it. The DVD that came out later was a great recording of it.

My dad and I had gone to Bill Clinton’s first inaugration (and George W. Bush’s before that). The day was bitterly cold, so no one wanted to stand outside, but Heather and I decided to brave it to see Better Than Ezra. It was in a big tent on the mall, and the main thing I remember is my fingers were so cold that clutching a hot chocolate still wasn’t warming them up. I don’t think we stayed for the whole set.
