Review:
Plenty of good bands for my last Nutcracker at the Patriot Center. I had always enjoyed Garbage, but Cake and Soul Coughing were fun as well. Then Hole just came to rock with nearly an hour long set.

Our first show with BNL as a headliner. Plenty of time for the full nonsense we loved.

We did see Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters this night, and I think we decided we preferred them sitting in.

The only time so far Dave Matthews Band has played two shows at this venue. We hadn’t been impressed with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters at the Tibetan Freedom Concert, so we skipped them, but did enjoy them sitting in.

Me, Melanie and her roommate Shannon went to this, mostly to see Barenaked Ladies. I don’t recall why we didn’t stay to see Ben Harper or Blues Traveler.

I blew off my 20 year reunion for this (did go to the happy hour the night before), but it was a great show. Lots of new songs as usual, but a choice selection of older cuts.

My second Lilith Fair. I described it as the time as a “full day … watching a lot of great women perform. With the exception of Missy, the weekend was perfect”. Appa
Rebekah was a breakout and Liz Phair & Natalie Merchant were fantastic,

I had loved the last Jimmy Page & Robert Plant tour, so of course I was in. This was a different tour though – not just Led Zeppelin classics as they had new album Walking Into Clarksdale to play some songs off, plus it was Robert Plant’s band and not an orchestra supporting them. Still, I enjoyed it. I think Melanie preferred Lili Haydn.

For the release party for emmet swimming’s third (and last) album on Epic, they threw a festival in DC that they headlined. You got a free VIP pass if you bought the ticket at a local record store, so of course we did.

The early ending to the show on Saturday was a slight disappointment, but they certainly packed the bands in on Sunday to make up for it. I really enjoyed Radiohead (Michael Stipe joined them during their set) and Pearl Jam. We left at the end of Pearl Jam’s set, so didn’t see the Red Hot Chili Peppers pick up their instruments and play another three songs.
