Review:
A great day for a great cause with great artists, but the thing I’ll never forget is George Michael performing with Garth Brooks. And the only time I saw either of them (or Chaka Khan). Melissa Etheridge did the odd thing of playing two different sets during the show.

Peter, Paul & Mary, Keb’ Mo’, Clint Black, Carole King, Monica, Third Eye Blind & James Taylor at National Mall, Washington, DC, USA for Earth Day
Review:
My second Earth Day on the Mall, and with a lot of legends. Highlights were Clint Black covering Monty Python, and Carole King being joined on “You’ve Got A Friend” by David Crosby and James Taylor.

The whole show is up as a stream at C-SPAN, so I won’t present each musician as their own stream as usual.

A free record release show at the place I bought tickets from and right around the corner from work? Yes, I was there.

Review:
I’d seen Neil Young, but not the rest, and I knew how rare it was for them to tour together. It was great, long show, full of not only CSNY songs, but also CSN and solo ones.

Review:
After missing Matthew Sweet in 1995, I really wanted to see him and finally saw him at the club. At the time, I called it an “amazing show”.

Review:
My first headlining show for Eddie From Ohio, and it confirmed my fandom. Lead singer Julie was fairly pregnant, and she sat on a recliner in the middle of the stage. When she needed a bathroom break, the other three played Steppenwolf’s “Born To Be Wild” with new lyrics: “Julie’s With Child”.

Meat Loaf at D.A.R. Constitution Hall, Washington, DC, USA
Review:
One my favorite concert stories. Meat Loaf had done VH1 Storytellers and released an album of it, and now was touring it. He and his band sat on stage with giant books that had every song he’d ever done, and if he was asked a question he liked, they’d play that song. The show was more than halfway through when one guy came to the microphone, a dead ringer for Meat Loaf as Eddie from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Meat Loaf saw him, told him to stop and come up to the stage. He talked to the band, who immediately started playing “Hot Patootie”. Meat Loaf and “Eddie” started singing it together, and it was just perfect. Unfortunately the live recording I have cuts out the banter.

“Weird Al” Yankovic at Warner Theatre, Washington, DC, USA
Review:
The real question is why it took me so long to see Weird Al. I had all his albums on tape in the ’80s, and never stopped liking him. Anyway, a great show with all the costume changes and videos he’s known for.
