Eddie From Ohio at The Barns at Wolf Trap, Vienna, VA, USA

Review:

My first headlining show for Eddie From Ohio, and it confirmed my fandom. Lead singer Julie was fairly pregnant, and she sat on a recliner in the middle of the stage. When she needed a bathroom break, the other three played Steppenwolf’s “Born To Be Wild” with new lyrics: “Julie’s With Child”.

Meat Loaf at D.A.R. Constitution Hall, Washington, DC, USA

Review:

One my favorite concert stories. Meat Loaf had done VH1 Storytellers and released an album of it, and now was touring it. He and his band sat on stage with giant books that had every song he’d ever done, and if he was asked a question he liked, they’d play that song. The show was more than halfway through when one guy came to the microphone, a dead ringer for Meat Loaf as Eddie from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Meat Loaf saw him, told him to stop and come up to the stage. He talked to the band, who immediately started playing “Hot Patootie”. Meat Loaf and “Eddie” started singing it together, and it was just perfect. Unfortunately the live recording I have cuts out the banter.

The two lead singers of my favorite local bands at one place on my birthday? Yes please. For whatever reason, the club had all that room upstairs, and the concert was in a small room in the basement.
