Pansy Division was the first out performer I ever saw, and they were not afraid of bringing to Green Day’s audience. Green Day themselves were great, Dookie was now a huge hit and this show offered plenty of it (along with songs from their Lookout Records output, which the fans had been seeking out in stores like mine).

First and last time I was at WUST Radio Music Hall until it was gutted and transformed into the new 9:30 Club. Most amusing thing was later considering the setlist of what Weezer played that night, and it was almost exactly what they played in shows they headlined.

I’m guessing local promoter Shack Events saw the HFStival and thought they could do a smaller scale version of that (they were later responsible for the Shamrock Fest). The Modern Rockathon was in the cavernous D.C. Armory and was tailor made for me, with bands I already knew and some I wanted to see, including the first time I saw The Excentrics without their Kiss makeup.

Another Dave Matthews Band show, another new venue to me. Rusted Root was one of my favorite opening acts, and the ushers at the Lisner were not happy with people dancing in the aisles. Six songs from this show have been released on the annual fan club Warehouse releases.
